To assist SMUD in preparing for the next phase of the Solano Wind Project, IEC was tasked with providing a transmission study. IEC provided technical and project management support to SMUD’s Project Manager during the CAISO study and transmission agreement process. Our responsibilities included: gathering the required technical data for vendors; developing conceptual technical requirements for the design of the substation and wind project, including basic equipment lists and ratings; determining possible substation locations and interconnection configurations; and developing a list of typical electrical features, systems, and ratings for a wind project of this size. IEC worked with CAISO and PG&E on the District’s behalf throughout the process.
