IEC Corporation provided an ArcFlash engineering analysis of the existing power plant generation facilities at the SMUD Solano Wind Project. This study included accurate verification of the installed equipment and development of a system model of each plant electrical system. IEC used this model to perform a short circuit analysis, a protective device coordination analysis, an electrical arc flash hazard analysis, and developed recommendations to mitigate the arc flash hazard. IEC documented each analysis and provided recommendations to minimize the arc flash incident energy level values where possible. In addition, IEC engineers provided arc flash and electrical safety training, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) training, and consulting services to assist SMUD power generation facilities with development of safe work practices and procedures.
