IEC earned several contracts with SMUD to provide photovoltaic design and engineering services. The first contract was to provide PV product and system design, project management, training, inspection, trouble-shooting, repair, and service documentation to augment and supplement SMUD’s staff. Specific tasks have included: conceptual PV design for local apartment complexes; PV training courses for homeowners, government officials, and architects; PV installation design review, observation, and reporting; and development of a shade analysis tool.
IEC was also contracted to provide design and permitting services for the District’s PV Pioneer 1 Decommissioning/Conversion effort. IEC conducted field assessments of existing PV 1 installations, including evaluating the suitability of the site for customer ownership of the system, and addressing roof condition, orientation, shading concerns, structural suitability of the roof, electrical service, conformance with NEC and local building codes, and other factors associated with pre-qualifi cation of the site. Our PV specialists also provided PV system design and permitting services such as preparation of County/City permitting documents, PV array layout drawings, single line drawings, structural reports, equipment specifications, and status reports on all pending conversions.
