CLIENT:

SELMA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT

IEC provided complete Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services  for installation of photovoltaic (PV) systems at eight (8) school sites within the Selma Unified School District (SUSD).

The installations consisted of PV modules installed on both fixed-tilt ground mounted structures and/or on elevated shade structures along with DC to AC inverters and other electrical, structural, and mechanical supporting equipment. The total installed solar capacity at the eight school sites is approximately 2,126 kilowatts (or 2.1 megawatts). These installations were funded by government low-interest bonds and California Solar Initiative (CSI) rebates. Construction began in winter 2012 and became operational in winter 2013.

The solar PV systems are expected to produce an estimated 3.2 million kWh per year and through Net Energy Metering (NEM). Any excess energy produced is exported to the grid and SUSD is compensated by PG&E for the time-of-use value of the energy. The solar systems are expected to significantly reduce the District’s utility bill.

“I highly recommend IEC for your solar needs—particularly on complex projects. Their ability to plan, coordinate and implement [our] projects allowed for a smooth running program. Their extensive knowledge and experience, coupled with diligence and hard work, has made working on this program so much easier and less stressful than other projects…”
