NID owns and operates eight hydroelectric powerhouse facilities. Due to years of powerhouse upgrades and modifications, the engineering drawings at each facility became disorganized, outdated, and decentralized. NID called upon IEC to develop drafting standards, document control procedures, and drawing consolidation procedures. IEC then implemented the standards and procedures for three (3) powerhouses including Bowman, Rollins and Chicago Park. IEC engineers performed site visits to field verify discrepancies identified in the drawings and redlined “as-found” conditions for all electrical drawings. IEC then incorporated the redlines into a final powerhouse organized drawing set. IEC’s organization, attention to detail and ability to resolve complex engineering discrepancies allowed the project to be completed with minimal involvement from District management. IEC will perform the same service for the remaining powerhouses as part of the District’s operation and maintenance safety initiative.
