As a result our responsiveness and quality of performance for the Woodland Unit 2 Project, MID contracted with IEC to completely manage their next project which was a 100 MW power plant project located in Ripon, California. MID gave IEC a sole source contract to serve as Owner’s Engineer, Project Manager and Construction Manager for the Ripon Generation Station. The peaking facility consists of two (2) GE LM6000 natural-gas-fired combustion turbine generators in simple cycle configuration. Additional components include new 69kV subtransmission line and fiber optic cable, new 8-inch diameter natural gas pipeline, and tie-in lines into the City of Ripon water supply and wastewater lines.
IEC initially performed an evaluation for a variety of gas turbines. The evaluation compared performance, reliability, operational flexibility, maintenance, emissions and installed cost. The data was used to determine the "best fit" for MID based on their power needs and operational requirements. From the evaluation, MID was able to select the power generation configuration and resulted in the purchase of two LM6000’s from GE at under market price with several options included at no charge to MID.
IEC provided design review, scheduling, engineering, construction management, field inspection services, and project management support for the project. The project was successfully installed, completed, and providing power in April of 2006. The client was extremely pleased with IEC’s support and our ability to pull the schedule back onto track even though the project had incurred some delays due to equipment delivery and design issues.
