Solano Wind Project - Phases 1 & 1A
In supporting Phase 1 of the Solano Wind Project, IEC designed access roads and the electrical collection system layout for the project. IEC also was responsible for all project permitting through the County offices. This project involved installing a total of fifteen (15) Vestas V-47 wind turbine generators (WTGs) at the Project site. As the Project developed, SMUD asked IEC to provide additional project engineering and project management support, including the coordination of contractors, submittal process, document control, field engineering, and startup support. Based on IEC’s responsiveness and quality of work during the first phase, SMUD requested that IEC personnel take the role of managing the ongoing Operations & Maintenance of the Solano Wind Project. Due to the success of Phase 1, SMUD retained IEC to completely design and manage the construction of seven (7) additional Vestas V-47s to the project, designated Phase 1A. Phase 1A was a fast track project with SMUD acting as the General Contractor with IEC’s support. IEC’s involvement included the development of the WTG purchase contract, the detailed engineering design documents, and the site construction contract. IEC also continued to provide the coordination of contractors, submittal process, and document control, as well as field engineering and startup assistance. The project was completed under budget and ahead of schedule. |
