Pine Tree Wind Project

IEC was recently awarded a contract to provide professional engineering services to support the Pine Tree Wind Project Balance of Plant (BOP) Request for Proposal development. Under the direction of the Board of Water & Power Commissioners, IEC will be responsible for the preparation, development, review, and finalization of the Project RFP. The objective of the Project RFP is to successfully arrive at an agreement with a qualified firm to engineer, procure, and construct the Project’s BOP work scope. LADWP’s goal for the Project is to construct and operate 80, GE 1.5 MW Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs). The overall project facility will also include several meteorological towers, an underground and overhead electrical collection system, a substation, a switching station, operations and maintenance (O&M) facility and yard, a 230 kV transmission line, and associated access roads. The proposed facility is located in the southern Sierra Nevada region in Kern County, California, and the wind turbines will be located along selected ridgelines.
