![]() Home :: What's New :: IEC Hired to Evaluate Water Use at Imperial Irrigation District Power Plants Sacramento, Calif., May 6, 2009 – IEC Corporation was recently hired by GEI Consultants to conduct a review and evaluation of the water usage, technologies, best practices, and regulations related to the existing and proposed power plants within the Imperial Irrigation District (IID) service area. After a general review and summary of the current best practices and best available technology related to the use of water resources for four power plant types within the IID service area (including geothermal, biomass, combined cycle, and solar thermal plants), IEC will provide a relative economic comparison of various water use options for cooling water and water treatment systems. IEC is also tasked with suggesting opportunities for water conservation at the existing 16 power plants as well as for additional plants currently proposed in the area. The company will provide IID with a technical summary of its findings for these tasks and also summarize the current regulations and requirements related to power plant water usage within the IID service area. |
