IEC to Provide Support for SMUD’s LM6000 Fleet Upgrades

Sacramento, Calif., September 4, 2007 – The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) has chosen IEC Corporation to perform preliminary engineering services for its fleet of five General Electric LM6000 combustion turbines at two cogeneration facilities in Sacramento County – the Carson Ice Cogen and the Procter & Gamble Cogen. All units are being proposed for upgrades to LM6000 PC SPRINT/EFS models. These upgrades are expected to increase output by about 7 MW per turbine while reducing the carbon footprint (greenhouse gases) on a per-megawatt basis.

IEC staff will perform site visits, review plans, and provide preliminary engineering analysis. In addition, IEC will prepare a technical Request for Proposal with supporting scope documents that will be issued by SMUD for EPC services for the upgrades.
