IEC Earns Contract to Support SMUD’s Renewable Portfolio Standard Goals

Sacramento, Calif., May 21, 2007 – The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) has awarded IEC with a contract to support its Renewable Portfolio Standard Goals and facilitate its goal of at having at least 23 percent of utility sales coming from renewable energy sources by 2011.

IEC will perform technical and environmental analyses to support the District’s renewable energy goals. The scope of this contract is vast and will include a variety of evaluations, analyses, and reports. Included in these functions will be program report preparation to identify specific recommendations to meet the renewable energy goals; ownership evaluations for renewable generation project options; Request for Proposal preparation for new projects; and exploration of new renewable energy sources for development, among others.
