IEC Continues with Feasibility Studies for SMUD Central Plant at Railyard Development

SACRAMENTO, Calif., May 15, 2007 – IEC continues to provide feasibility studies for various options related to the proposed Central Utility Plant at the Sacramento Railyards development. The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) originally tasked IEC with conducting an in-depth engineering analysis and developing a complete report to estimate the scope and cost of installing a Central Utility Plant to serve the 240-acre Railyards redevelopment. In conducting this analysis, IEC evaluated different configurations, selected the best configuration for the site, and compared it to the costs associated with no central plant installed. SMUD was impressed with the first finished report, and as a result asked IEC to complete analyses for a number of additional options.
