SMUD Again Selects IEC to Provide Professional Engineering Services for its Generation Facilities

Sacramento, Calif., October 20, 2006 – The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) owns a variety of energy generation facilities – including a 688 MW hydroelectric system, four combined cycle power plants, three combustion turbine peaking units, 39 MW of wind turbines, photovoltaic systems in 50 sites around the county, and a natural gas pipeline.

SMUD has again selected IEC Corporation to provide professional engineering support services to the District’s Power Generation Department. This Department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the District’s facilities, and IEC has been contracted to step in when needed to provide design engineering, efficiency testing, hydrologic and alternative energy studies, seismic analysis, power plant construction / maintenance, project management, and other miscellaneous tasks.
