Project Managers

JOB DESCRIPTION
IEC Corporation is seeking Project Managers for both our offices (Sacramento, California and Portland, Oregon). The candidates will plan, design, construct, and commission generation and transmission system additions or modifications and provide project management expertise to ensure adequate, reliable, and cost-effective generation and transmission systems for our clients.

The candidate will serve as a functional expert providing direction in one or more areas of a professional discipline and assume responsibility for resolving complex problems and overseeing complex projects. This position supports client generation and transmission activities, including project planning, procurement of materials and services, contract management, financial tracking and reporting, serving as project liaison with all related outside agencies and contractors, and acting as project technical expert to ensure successful completion of all project work in compliance with established budget and schedule. The selected candidate may also serve in a lead role in planning, coordinating, prioritizing, monitoring, and evaluating the work results in assigned area and in selecting, training, motivating, evaluating, and developing lower-level personnel.

REQUIRED SKILL SET & EXPERIENCE

This role will require the candidate to have knowledge of the principles, practices and technical aspects of assigned projects and programs at an advanced level, including: generation and transmission system adequacy and development; transmission and interconnection contracts and contracting practices; federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations governing power generation and transmission systems; power system theory and planning techniques; procedures and practices for cost control, project scheduling, and monitoring and managing projects; economic analysis methods; techniques for planning, organizing and overseeing work activities; practices for delegating, assigning and reviewing work activities; techniques and concepts related to teamwork; methods and techniques for report preparation and writing; techniques and practices for resolving complex technical issues; techniques and practices related to negotiations and compromise; and safety policies, practices and procedures.

Candidates must have skills to plan and implement complex and multi-faceted projects involving various community groups, technical staff and management, external stakeholders, and regulatory agencies. Additional skills required include the ability to: understand and resolve the technical, political, and corporate issues; plan, organize, prioritize, and schedule projects; monitor and manage projects; evaluate and resolve complex technical or management issues; interact with others to influence and motivate; build and maintain effective relationships with government officials, public and community agencies, contractors, and vendors; plan, oversee and review the work of others; compile and prepare technical reports and presentations; interpret, analyze and apply pertinent policies, procedures, regulations, and requirements; utilize computer equipment and software relevant to the job; and communicate extremely well – both orally and in writing.

Candidates must have: a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university and have 7 to 10 years of progressively responsible project management work experience in the power industry.
